Today we’re speaking with Michael Marcovici, CEO of DDF.

1) What does your company do?

The Domain Developers Fund is the first and only public open-ended investment fund that invests in domains: the Internet´s real estate. Twenty years after the launch of the World Wide Web, there remain many opportunities awaiting exploitation. Some locations in the address space of the Web are very expensive in today’s market. “toys.com” sold for 5.5 million USD, “business.com” for 100 million USD. But think about it: there is only one “business.com” and there will never be another one. Even in real estate, markets are prone to change, with evolving development trends that conform to the times. In cyberspace however, a premium domain name will forever remain a premium domain name. Hence domain names may rightly be called the real estate of the Web.

2) How is your product/service different from others in your industry?

Most companies or individuals in the domain industry do not invite investors, they usually work alone or at least with their own capital, the DDF is currently the only way to participate in the domain industry. To be and to stay successful in the domain space requires long experience, technical and business skills and a good network of people in the industry, the DDF team has over 30 years of experience in this field and is very well connected in the industry.

3) What makes this new kind of investment different from others?

There are many notable differences: each domain is unique and therefore has a very high value for customers in the same niche as the domain name. The domains do not require warehousing or any other kind of work or maintenance. They naturally receive type in traffic which brings in passive revenue. Another difference is that the generated revenues and their values are widely uncorrelated from all other traditional asset classes.
