How the Award Is Determined
GetApp’s methodology has been evolving for nearly as long as they’ve been active. Per the current system, each piece of software is scored on a 100-point scale, with the total score derived from point totals in these five key criteria:

- Likelihood to recommend
Each of the five numerical ratings is based on average user ratings (GetApp bases its category averages on ratings collected across all products in their respective category), which are normalized per recency and volume of reviews. Ultimately, each of the five criteria can achieve a score of up to 20 points, making for a maximum overall score of 100 out of 100. It’s also important to note that all products are represented, included and scored solely based on user reviews, wholly independent of any relationship GetApp may have with vendors.
GetApp also imposes some baseline requirements for consideration. For instance, each product must have a minimum of 20 unique product reviews, must achieve a minimum normalized rating in each of the five core areas, must show clear evidence of offering its purported functionality and must be relevant to potential users across industries (meaning GetApp doesn’t cover niche or boutique solutions limited to a single business sector). Only products that serve North American users are included in the rankings.
