CapLinked is pleased to announce that we have closed an angel round of $525,000, bringing total capital raised for our company to over $900,000. The investors in this round include PayPal alumni Peter Thiel (technology entrepreneur, investor, philanthropist, and co-founder of PayPal), Dave McClure (founding partner of 500 Startups), Joe Lonsdale (co-founder of Palantir Technologies), and Aman Verjee (CFO of Sonos), as well as David Anderson (managing partner of 7th Rig).

We are proud to say we used the “Deal” tool on the CapLinked site to manage our capital raise. By relying on our own product, we learned a lot about where it works well and how to make it better. In fact, we’ve already implemented a couple of improvements, such as allowing deals to have multiple administrators and posting news feed updates when new documents are added.

We invited prospective investors to view the information and documents in our private deal room. Having a centralized deal room made it easy for us to send them updated documents, and we were able to see when they accessed the information or forwarded the deal along to other accredited investors.

When our round was fully subscribed, we closed our deal on the website and added our new investors to our company profile so they can receive private updates on our business. (If you’re not familiar with how our Deal tool works for a private capital raise or asset sale, read the How to Create and Share a Deal page.)

We plan to use the proceeds from this financing round to expand our team so we can offer our users the best tools for networking, deal-making, and investor relations. Stay tuned.
